World of Warcraft Classic Gets Hit With DDoS Attacks

World of Warcraft Classic is launching a Cold War, but many thousands of players are experiencing frustration over the ongoing DDoS attacks.

World of Warcraft players who want to re-explore the first experience have flocked to the World of Warcraft Classic. With the release of today's extension of the Burning Crusade Classic, more players than ever want to get into action, but there has been some difficulty in that before.

As with most multiplayer online games, fans have flocked to the World of Warcraft Classic servers after the update took effect, creating a long queue and waiting. However, according to Blizzard, the biggest problem seems to come from outside the game itself.

According to a Twitter account to support Blizzard, Classic plagued by DDoS attacks since the update came live in World of Warcraft. While Blizzard claims to be looking into the situation and working to reduce it, no full solution has been found as of this writing, and players are still flocking to complain about the situation.

Many players have reported excessive deficiencies, as well as complete dismissal from the server they are trying to play on. Unfortunately, many of these players re-joined the line to find that they had to wait many hours before returning to the game.

Some players remember the launch of the World of Warcraft Classic back in 2019, which was attacked by a similar DDoS attack. While some are quick to point the finger at this flaw that Blizzard may be fighting against the influx of players, there is no clear evidence of that, although a large number of players trying to log in simultaneously as a DDoS attack may make the worst news.

Not entirely bad news for the WoW Classic players, however, as it seems that some of the less crowded servers can be played with portable lag levels. Of course, this may be a small consolation for those who prefer crowded servers or choose to stream while playing on the Faerlina server, as it is more affected by the attack.

While this is of great concern to players who were determined to jump straight to the Burning Crusade Classic content, it may not last long. DDoS attacks are common in the online gaming industry, although some games have been less fortunate than others, with games such as LittleBigPlanet declining for a long time following DDoS attacks and hacking.

It will be interesting to see how Blizzard handles these DDoS attacks going forward. Blizzard suppressed the charges against former DDoS attackers, and the attack on the 2019 World of Warcraft Classic DDoS was arrested the same month.
